Catalonia has been, and still is, one of the economic, political and social motors of Europe. Its geographical location in the Mediterranean has ratified its name as a welcoming region as vell as of passage. Without a State, and therefore without international power, controlled historically and successively by the Spanish government, Catalonia has never renounced the place that it deserves in the order of nations. The Catalonia, a European country programme, of which this guide is the printed supporting aid document, is aimed to everyone throughout the world, Spain, and all the areas traditionally called Catalan countries. Its aim is to make the reality of this ancient country known through tourism and from a cultural and entertaining point of view. It has a historic European and international vocation and wants to be recognised throughout the world as Catalan.
